Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is a Japanese restaurant emerging from the popularity of the ramen culture in the country. One Sunday evening, we decided to give this restaurant a try. This is located at the ground level of Ayala Malls Cloverleaf beside Shakeys.
Although I’m not really a good food blogger, I would like to write about our experience in this restaurant. Not only they offered good food, they also offered good service.
Hokkaido Ramen Santouka offers:
- Rice bowl
- Curry and rice
- Set menu and light meals
Hokkaido Santouka is a casual dining restaurant. The one in Cloverleaf is cozy, organized and have comfortable seating.
You could actually see the kitchen where the action happens. They don’t have a lot of decors, just a big wall calligraphy of the restaurant’s name written in Japanese.
What We Ordered
We tried the Awasi-Aji Ramen because it’s indicated on their menu that it’s one of their bestseller. We added a gohan for Olivia and also ordered cold green tea drinks.
The Awasi-Aji Ramen’s soup base is a combination of salt, soy and soybean. Aside from the noodles, it has two boiled eggs, pork, slivers of vegetable and bamboo shoot.
I like ramen with delicious soup base and this one did not disappoint. I really can’t put the proper description on it, but it’s just pure “umami” to me (especially when you’re really hungry ?). Furthermore, I “melted” with goodness on how the egg perfectly complemented with the soup! Lovely!
Likewise, the pork tasted good. It’s very tender to the bite.
Very Kid Friendly
I appreciated how Hokkaido Santouka has put the kids in mind. We mentioned at the entrance that we require a table for two and a half, the receptionist was quick enough to initiate if we would be need a high chair for Olivia. Nice! In most restaurants we’ve been into, we would be the one to ask for a high chair.
Moreover, they served kiddie plates and drinking cup to our little one. Olivia actually acknowledged it by saying “Wow, ganda!” 😀
Everytime we go out to eat, I always bring a home cooked meal because she’s not yet used to restaurant food. Although the restaurant has a “no-food-brought-from-outside” policy, they were kind enough to allow us to let her consume it. They even agreed to reheat her food.
It Was Delicious
I would have to give this place a 4 out of 5 stars. The average price point would range from Php 1,000 to 1,200 for two people ordering ramen with drinks just like what we did. Overall, it’s actually a good value for the tummy!
Hokkaido Ramen Santouka has other branches in Megamall, Trinoma, Mall of Asia, Glorietta 4, Greenhills, Tagaytay, Eastwood, ATC, Nuvali, SM Clark, SM Pampanga, and UP Town Center. You may check out their complete menu and other reviews in www.zomato.com.
